CHANGES IN THE PENIS AFTER 60 YEARS THAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW
The passage of time is unforgiving, and the human body undergoes transformations that, in many cases, take us by surprise. One of the less talked-about topics—but one that generates great curiosity—is the changes in the penis after age 60. What really happens to this organ over time? What’s normal and what’s not? Below, we explain the most common changes you might not be aware of.

1. Decrease in size
One of the most noticeable changes is a slight reduction in the length and thickness of the penis . This doesn’t mean a radical loss, but a decrease of between 1 and 2 centimeters can be noticed. This variation is related to the reduction of testosterone , the accumulation of fatty tissue at the base of the penis , and decreased tissue elasticity .
2. Less firm and less frequent erections
After age 60, erections tend to become less rigid and harder to maintain . This is due to slower blood circulation and a loss of muscle tone in the pelvic region. Furthermore, the response to sexual desire may slow down, but it doesn’t disappear.
3. Changes in sensitivity
Many men notice a decrease in the sensitivity of the glans , which can make sexual stimulation require more time or intensity. This can influence both arousal and climax, but also allows for longer durations of sexual intercourse.
4. Different ejaculations

Ejaculations tend to change with age. They may become less intense, with a lower semen volume, and even lower ejaculation pressure. This is completely normal and is usually linked to decreased prostate function.
5. Changes in shape or curvature
Some men notice that their penis begins to develop a slight curvature , which may be a result of small internal scars accumulated over the years (a condition known as Peyronie’s disease). If the curvature causes pain or makes sexual intercourse difficult, a urologist should be consulted.
6. Scrotal retraction and testicular prolapse
The scrotum loses tone with age, making the testicles appear more droopy. The penis may also shrink slightly when flaccid , especially if there is increased abdominal fat.
Can it be avoided or reversed?
Although aging is natural, many of these changes can be slowed or minimized by adopting healthy habits:
- Balanced diet
- Regular exercise (especially pelvic floor)
- Avoid tobacco and alcohol
- Maintain an active sex life
- Regular medical check-ups with a urologist
