PART 2: «The Grandmother Who Came Back for Him»

The saleswoman’s face went pale.

The young man stepped back, confused and afraid.

“My grandmother died before I was born.”

The elderly woman shook her head, tears falling now.

“No, sweetheart. That is what your father was told.”

The store went silent.

She looked toward the saleswoman, and her voice became colder.

“Your mother worked here twenty-three years ago. She told my son the baby didn’t survive. Then she disappeared with you.”

The young man’s breathing turned uneven.

“My mother raised me alone,” he said. “She said my father’s family didn’t want me.”

“I searched for you every year,” the old woman cried. “Every birthday. Every Christmas. I never stopped.”

The young man looked down at the bracelet again.

His hands began to shake.

The saleswoman stepped forward quickly. “This is ridiculous. She’s confused.”

The old woman slowly lifted her chin.

“No. I am the founder of this company.”

Every staff member froze.

She turned toward the glass cases, the chandeliers, the gold walls.

“This store was built for my family,” she said. “And today I came in dressed like someone poor to see what kind of people were guarding it.”

The saleswoman’s mouth fell open.

The old woman pointed at the young man kneeling before her.

“He was the only one who saw a person.”

Then her voice broke.

“And he is my grandson.”

The young man’s eyes filled.

For a moment, he looked like the little boy no one had protected.

Then he dropped to his knees again, not to fix her shoe this time, but to hold her hands.

“You really looked for me?”

She touched his face with trembling fingers.

“Every day of my life.”

He lowered his head into her lap and cried.

The old woman bent over him, holding him as tightly as her fragile arms could manage.

Behind them, the saleswoman stood silent beneath the chandelier, surrounded by diamonds she would never touch again.

And the young man in the blue uniform finally learned he had not been unwanted.

He had been stolen.
